about Pedro

Tenor Pedro Miguel Barros is a Portuguese versatile artist with a (rich and warm) (warm and rich) tenor timbre. Barros/Pedro is a singer-actor with experience in English Renaissance Shakespearean Theater and with great skill in the works of greek stage classics of Euripides and Sophocles. Born in Lisbon, Portugal he graduated from Cambridge in Anglia Ruskin University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Drama Performance. He is currently in his first year of his Professional Studies Diploma in Voice at Mannes School of Music in New York City.

Barros/Pedro performed the roles of Jason in Medea at the Cambridge Playhouse and Philip Ridley’s controversial The Fastest Clock in the Universe. In Scotland he crafted the role of Aaron in Titus Andronicus and performed it at the Joan Knight Studio where he also worked and furthered his acting studies focusing on works of Samuel Beckett, Eugène Ionesco, Harold Pinter and Sarah Kane. He/Pedro appeared and performed in a series of concerts with the music of Ennio Morricone in the Konzerthaus in Vienna and his concert repertoire include the Tenor soloist lead in Berlioz’s Te Deum, Handel’s Messiah and Mozart Requiem.

In the United States he appeared in the Miami Music Festival performing Zarzuela and in their production of Die Zauberflöte. In his native country he developed a taste for Spanish Zarzuela, Fado and 20th century poetry and music of Portuguese language composers from Africa and Portugal. Being proud of his roots, Pedro loves Fado (Portugal’s national folk music).

He is scheduled to sing Belmonte in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte in his scene work with Mannes Opera spring 2023.
